John Sherwin Steel Renewal

This is a screen capture from the ABS record in regards to the steel renewal required for the John Sherwin. The worst affected steel plating is in the "G" Strake. Most is the other pitting would be repaired by welding.

I'm not so sure, Chris. The light standards atop the dock have horizontal arms extending above the tracks, which is very similar to the light standards atop CNW's ore docks in Ashland. The CNW Escanaba ore docks had vertical light standards that didn't extend over the tracks, at least as far as ...

I believe that the photo shows the Harry Coulby at the Number 3 Ore Dock at Ashland, Wisconsin. C&NW operated three wooden ore docks at Ashland, with the last (Number 3) operating until 1957 when a planned rebuild of that dock was cancelled. That is the Oil Transporter. At the time the photo was taken she would have been owned by Gayport Shipping Limited. Hall Shipping purchased the assets of Gayport Shipping in 1959. Oil Transporter was renamed Oil Transport in the same year. So this photo was taken between 1951 and 1959.
