There are published air drafts for every port or waterway with restricted overhead height. The Master and Deck Officers will note this in the voyage plan. In the case of Iver Bright, the main mast would be lowered for air draft restriction. This is not a standard feature of all ships, but is fitted on vessels which trade in areas where there are air draft restrictions. When masts are folded, they are generally hydraulically controlled by manual actuation (i.e. a manual control valve is used to lower or raise the mast).
